Our first official year of Homeschool Preschool kicked off on August 15, 2014.

We’re using God’s Little Explorers preschool curriculum and we started with Week 1-Letter X.

Jelly Bean is 46 months. Baby Ruth is 32 months

I am using Homeschool Creation‘s editable Weekly Homeschool Planner to track our progress and plan for the week ahead.

Week 1 – Letter X activities:

Memory Verse from I Can Teach My Child.Homeschool Preschool-God's Little Explorers | LearningWithMom.org

Learning that “God’s Word is a Treasure.”
That’s my GLE Curriculum and Lesson Plan Book, but I eventually tore out the page, cut it down and posted it on our wall. (See next photo.)
Also pictured, Letter X do-a-dot marker page which was decorated with stickers.

Our wall features

  • both “God’s Word is a Treasure” pages from the GLE printables, as well as
  • “The Creation Song,” which they will learn next week when we do Letter G,
  • 2 treasure maps – one for Jelly Bean and one for Baby Ruth
  • and on the far right, our catechism for the next few months – “The Lord’s Prayer”

Treasure Map number puzzle from the “X Marks the Spot” Preschool Printable Pack that was made as an add-on to the GLE curriculum. (Only a few letters have been done.)
If you’re looking for extra letter practice, I am using Letter of the Week. If you would like to browse for others, check out my Pinterest Board here: ABCs/Tot School

The GLE curriculum printables include an Alphabet Notebook.

There are actually both uppercase and lowercase pages. I split them between my two girls. Jelly Bean was given the lowercase pages because this year I want to teach her how to read and that requires recognizing more lowercase letters. (She already knows all her uppercase letters.) Baby Ruth needs more uppercase letter recognition practice, so I gave those to her.

I decided to have them cut and paste pictures that start with the letter they are studying for the week instead of just using the page for writing practice. (There are plenty of opportunities for writing/tracing letters in the Letter of the Week Curriculum.)

And of course, my girls love to play ABC Mouse. Very helpful for the witching hour (pre-dinner/cooking time) or when I need to put the baby down for a nap. To read my review, click here –> ABCMouse.com Review

We did many other Letter X activities, as well as Reading, Hymn singing, Calendar, Spanish and Chinese, but it’s hard to take pictures AND do homeschool, so I tried to remember to capture whatever I could. I hope that gives you a well-rounded view of our time this week.

If you like what you see here, consider using God’s Little Explorers with your own little ones!
It can be adapted for children ages 2-5.
