Fresh Air with Essential Oils

Every home is distinguished by a particular smell. More often than not, we get used to that smell and we don’t even notice it when we are home. However, our guests do. It is important to make your home smell good. And that’s where air fresheners come in. However, commercial air fresheners are quite harmful. If you want to leave a lasting impression on your visitors, go for essential oils. There are a variety of fragrances available in drugstores. Shop around and get your favorite essential oils. Then take a look at this post. We offer a few essential oil blends which you can use to freshen up indoor air. Let’s get to it.

Recipe #1

Citrus freshness. Citrus blends create a wonderful, sweet and fresh aroma that is good to use both during summer and in winter. What you need is a few drops of grapefruit, lime, wild orange and lemon essential oil. Combining a couple of drops each of these essential oils in a portable diffuser will make your home smell great.

Recipe #2

If you need a spray which you can carry around your house and spray room after room, mix your favorite combination of essential oils in a spray bottle. For example, you can combine a few drops each of clove, sandalwood, lemon and wild orange essential oils into a clean glass spray bottle and fill the rest of the bottle with water. Shake well and spray around. You can also use this to freshen up your clothes. CarpetClean Mill Hill are saying that the smell will likely go away after a while.

Recipe #3

Apart from freshening up some nooks, you can also spruce up your home as you vacuum. What you need to do is sprinkle a few drops of your favorite essential oil onto some cotton balls. When you are done, make sure to put them in the vacuum’s canister. Then run the vacuum and let the essential oils do their thing. It is recommended to use antimicrobial essential oil (most of them are anyway) so that while you are sucking up dust and debris from the floors, the oils will spread around and cleanse the air.

Recipe #4

If you need to get your mind off of things and settle down for a peaceful evening, try mixing  ylang ylang, patchouli and bergamot essential oil and spray in your bedroom before you go to bed. Don’t carry it too far. If you create a strong aroma, this might have an effect opposite to the one you are willing to get.

Tips and Advice:

  • The best way to keep your home fresh is to air out the premises every day.
  • Try to keep store-bought air fresheners to a minimum. First off, they are full of chemicals that do nothing but pose a health threat to your family when inhaled. Second, they don’t purify the air or make it fresher, they only mask bad odors. Third, they are not recommended for people who suffer from asthma. Last but not least, air fresheners are expensive.
  • Note that once your sprinkle essential oils into the air, the aroma will go away more quickly than when you use commercial air fresheners. If you want a strong smell that lasts, try adding 30 or more drops into the mixture or just be sure to use your homemade air freshener more frequently. Of course, if you use a diffuser, you will never face that kind of issue.
  • If you want to make an air freshener with a long shelf life, consider using a glass bottle. It is not recommended to use plastic bottles when blending essential oils because this will create a chemical reaction.

And this is how you can freshen up indoor air using essential oils.
